The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital is one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe, delivering high volume and low complexity cases locally for our regional community.
We have exciting opportunities for Anaesthetic Practitioners to join our team. We welcome applications from newly qualified Operating Department Practitioners, and we will support you during your preceptorship period.
To join our friendly theatre team, you should be a motivated, confident, and flexible individual with experience in an operating theatre environment. You must be either NMC registered (RN1) or HCPC registered.

The Dame Clare Marx Building houses our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC), focusing on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre features eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare the anaesthetic room and/or operating theatre for sessions, including:
* The safe custody and preparation of drugs and infusions
* Preparation of airway management equipment
* Safety checking and preparation of instruments, mechanical and electrical equipment, and environmental factors
1. Ensure adherence to Trust/local policies, guidelines, legislation, and support initiatives like Saving Lives, WHO Surgical Safety Checklist, GIRFT.
2. Participate in internal rotation across all areas of the department as needed to meet service requirements on a 24-hour basis, including trauma cases.
