This is a training role paid at 70% of a Band 3 in Year 1 and 75% in Year 2 (uplifted to minimum wage), progressing to Band 3 upon completion of NVQ2 Pharmacy Services. An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated assistant technical officer to join our team and provide high-quality aseptic services. You will work with a dedicated team to prepare cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies, and participate in clinical trials, adhering to GMP and standards to ensure safe, effective patient care.
This role is based in Lancaster, with good transport links.
Main duties of the job
Providing safe, timely pharmaceutical services in our Aseptic Unit.
Main Duties:
* Preparing aseptic products using needles and syringes in a clean room environment, ensuring correct delivery to wards.
* Assisting in product preparation for patient administration.
* Maintaining stock levels and ensuring proper stock rotation.
* Performing cleaning and waste disposal duties following safety regulations.
* Understanding COSHH regulations for handling pharmaceuticals.
* Previous aseptic experience is desirable but full training will be provided.
* Completion of NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services is required; training roles including NVQ2 will be considered for those without this qualification.
Training includes progression from paid training to full Band 3 status upon qualification.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* English and Maths GCSE grade C or above
* NVQ and BTEC Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
* Recognition in OTC sales course
Experience
* Hospital or pharmacy setting experience
* Dispensing, drug receipt, record keeping, cold chain maintenance
* JAC trained
* Experience with clinical trials and aseptic preparation
Skills, Ability, and Knowledge
* Knowledge of pharmacy procedures and drug legislation
* Understanding of H&S and COSHH regulations
* Good communication skills
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to prioritize and maintain accuracy
