Blyth Road Medical Centre is looking to recruit a permanent part Health Care Assistant. Hours will be around 35 per week.
The working hours will be set agreed shifts, Monday to Friday between 8am - 6:30pm, but applicants must be flexible to cover any shifts for holidays and sickness during these hours.
Annual leave is in line with Agenda for Change.
Experience of working in a GP Practice would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide a high quality service to patients, doctors and other members of the Primary HealthCare Team. It is essential to contribute to the maintenance of patient confidentiality at all times inside and outside the practice.

We are a friendly practice with around 6300 patients, 2 GPs, 3 ANPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA's and a team of admin and Reception staff.
Job responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities – Clinical Duties
* Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)
* Blood pressure monitoring
* Height, weight, BMI, and waist circumference recording
* ECG recording
* Urinalysis and specimen processing
* Wound care and dressing changes as delegated
* Removal of sutures and clips
* New patient health checks
* Vaccinations and injections where appropriately trained and authorised
* Supporting long-term condition monitoring clinics
* Chaperoning duties
* Infection prevention and control activities
* Stock checking and clinical room preparation
Administrative Duties
* Accurate recording of clinical information into electronic patient records e.g. SystmOne
* Processing and handling specimens in accordance with procedures
* Maintaining clinical equipment and reporting faults
* Managing stock rotation and ordering processes
* Supporting recall and screening programmesAssisting with patient flow and appointment preparation
* Maintaining confidentiality and information governance standards
