East Lothian Works is currently recruiting a permanent Employability Intervention Officer (EIO). This post will be hosted within the Schools Team which works across all ELC secondary schools to support young people to access pre-vocational courses offered by East Lothian Works, and a number of our partners. The EIO will be allocated specific courses to oversee, ensuring the attendance of, and progress and attainment of the young people enrolled. The EIO will work as part of a team of colleagues working together to support young people into a positive destination. The post holder will carry a caseload of young people who have been identified by colleagues who require support to identify a suitable post school destination. Job Requirements Relevant Qualifications Educated to HNC/SVQ3 in Childcare and Development or Social Care or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. In the absence of the formal qualification stated above, the jobholder should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the employability sector and have experience of providing 1:1 and delivering group work sessions to individuals with barriers to employment. In addition, they are required to have an understanding of the local employability landscape and Scottish Government and local drivers. Driving Licence A full current driving licence is desirable for this post. PVG Membership This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
