As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead the delivery of a portfolio of safety‑critical engineering support equipment in support of the Astute Major Long Refit Programme. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of high‑hazard engineering, people leadership and nationally important delivery. Day‑to‑day you’ll provide technical leadership and strategic direction to a team of design managers and engineers, ensuring designs are robust, compliant and fit for purpose within a highly regulated environment. Beyond technical assurance you’ll shape resourcing and supply‑chain strategies, balance competing priorities and work closely with customers and stakeholders to deliver complex engineering solutions that truly matter.
This role is full‑time, 35 hours per week and offers hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of three days a week on site/in the office.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of engineering portfolios, ensuring outputs meet safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
* Manage and develop engineering teams, providing technical oversight, coaching and clear direction.
* Ensure engineering designs meet regulatory and safety standards within a licensed nuclear environment.
* Coordinate resourcing and supply‑chain strategies to support successful delivery.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted, customer‑facing engineering leader.
Essential Experience
* Proven experience applying systems engineering principles across the full design lifecycle.
* Experience leading delivery of engineering designs within a regulated or high‑hazard environment.
* Strong leadership experience, managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Demonstrable experience delivering infrastructure or complex engineering solutions.
* Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and customers in demanding environments.
Qualifications
* Degree in a STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or clear evidence of working towards registration.
* Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution.
* Chartered Engineer or Chartered Manager status – desirable.
