We are looking for someone who cares passionately about Wild Places with career experience in managing large areas of land. Our ideal candidate will be highly motivated and brings both practical and management experience to fulfil this key role. They will oversee practical delivery of best practice on our properties, including deer management, mitigating livestock pressure, control of invasive non-native species, path maintenance and provide leadership as a progressive crofting landlord and engagement with local communities on a wide range of issues. They will work closely with our Communications and Engagement team to promote high quality visitor experiences to a wide range of interests and abilities across all properties managed with a primacy for Wild Places.

Role Purpose
Our new Head of Land Management will lead the Trust's land management teams responsible for 24,000Ha to deliver exemplary management for Wild Places. The properties are Sandwood, Quinag, on Skye (Strathaird, Torrin, Sconser), Knoydart, Nevis and Schiehallion.
Main responsibilities
Key duties
* Lead land management staff.
* Ensure properties managed in line with best practice.
* Develop and deliver Property Management Plans that align with our corporate objectives, are supported by performance metrics, and inform our three-year finance cycle.
* Take a lead role in community liaison and consultation in partnership with Director of Policy.
* Ability to manage and deal directly with issues that arise, resolving disputes within agreed corporate timelines.
* Responsible for all H&S associated with property-based activities, adhering to Trust policies and monitoring compliance.
* Integrating communications and engagement for onsite delivery in partnership with the Director of Communications and Engagement.
* Scope and manage the practical operations of all contractors onsite.
* Ensure positive relationships with key partner organisations, and develop new strategic partnerships and alliances as agreed.
• Ability to produce regular evidence-based reports of performance on the land.
• Line management of staff and contractors.
* Working closely with staff in other teams to integrate communications, engagement and volunteering opportunities for onsite delivery.
