Job Summary
Consultant Cellular Pathologist (10 PAs) to join our busy Cellular Pathology department at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Post based at fully accredited laboratory in Hemel Hempstead Hospital, with primary focus on Dermatopathology and contribution to Non‑Gynaecological Cytology and Respiratory Pathology services. The department also provides specialist services in breast, gastrointestinal, urology, gynaecological pathology, cervical screening, immunohistochemistry and bowel cancer screening.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality histopathology reporting with a primary focus on Dermatopathology.
* Contribute to Non‑Gynaecological Cytology and Respiratory Pathology services.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, cancer diagnostics, clinical governance activities, audit, teaching and service development.
* Manage effective workload, maintain turnaround times and collaborate with consultant colleagues, biomedical scientists, laboratory teams and clinical services across multiple hospital sites.
* Opportunity to contribute to wider departmental services such as gastrointestinal, breast, urology and diagnostic cytology pathways.
Essential Qualifications
* Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
* CESR or CCT in histopathology.
* Applicants who are UK trained must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT at interview.
* FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
* Other professional or higher qualification.
* Academic distinction or prizes.
