Overview Of The Role
Our Group Legal Department is an in‑house team based in Croydon, UK and other offices worldwide. The team provides legal advice on all matters associated with Mott MacDonald’s global business. We are looking for a proactive and positive Legal Counsel to support the Regional General Counsel – EUNA, the Senior Legal Counsels, and to advise on a wide range of legal matters, primarily focused on our infrastructure consultancy business.
Key Responsibilities And Duties Include
* Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of construction documentation including consultancy agreements, construction contracts, framework agreements, collateral warranties, novation deeds, and parent company guarantees
* Identify departures from our governance and assist project teams in obtaining the necessary internal approvals where appropriate
* Advise the business on applicable laws and regulations
* Revise and maintain legal templates
* Draft and update legal guidance
* Advise business on litigation and insurance matters, which may include liaising with outside counsel and technical experts
* Support other parts of the Legal Department such as Ethics and Compliance, and Privacy and Data Protection teams on construction‑related issues
Candidate specification
Knowledge, Experience And Education
* England and Wales qualified solicitor with extensive PQE (qualification in other common law jurisdictions considered)
* Relevant experience of construction law either in private practice or in‑house for a major contractor, engineer or architect
* Significant experience in negotiating and drafting construction documentation as a qualified lawyer
* Experience and knowledge of construction disputes and insurance (nice to have)
* Great analytical skills and excellent legal knowledge
* Ability to multitask, problem‑solve, and balance competing priorities
* Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a larger team
