Job Description:
Senior Communications Officer (Human rights/Legal Charity)
Civitas Recruitment is working with an established organisation working at the intersection of law, policy, and social justice. They aim to ensure fair access to justice, strengthen public accountability, and support individuals and communities to have their voices heard. With a strong reputation for impact, they are now seeking a skilled communications professional to join their dedicated team.
The Role
The Senior Communications Officer will lead in delivering high-quality media and digital communications that amplify the organisation’s work. This is a permanent position, available on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 4 days / 28 hours per week), based in Central London (EC1V) with hybrid working arrangements. The role reports to the Communications and Engagement Director and plays a pivotal role in developing and executing communications strategies to increase visibility, engagement, and impact.
Key responsibilities will include developing and delivering content plans across digital channels, securing media coverage, producing press releases and publications, and supporting a refreshed brand identity. The postholder will also coordinate the design and production of reports, contribute to annual publications, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will bring proven experience in media and digital communications, with strong instincts for storytelling and audience engagement. You will have a track record of securing media coverage and producing compelling content across social media, email, and web platforms. Excellent writing and editing skills, alongside the ability to explain complex issues for diverse audiences, are essential.
You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners at all levels. Confidence in using digital tools such as content management systems and email marketing platforms is important, and a good eye for design and brand presentation would be advantageous. Above all, you will share the organisation’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
Application Process
Please apply immediately or for further information, please contact Syed at Civitas Recruitment. The deadline for applications is Sunday 14 September 2025 at 23:59. First-round interviews will take place on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 September 2025, with final interviews (if required) on Tuesday 7 October 2025.
