We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled individual to step into the role ofSenior Network Specialist within our Network Team. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting and developing the Trust’s converged voice and data network across over 30 sites, helping to maintain the digital foundations that underpin safe, effective patient care.

Whether you’re already in a network role or looking to step up, we want someone who’s not just technically capable, but also collaborative, values-led, and proactive.

Main duties of the job

What you'll be doing:

* Leading project work and resolving complex second-line network issues
* Supporting LAN/WAN/DC/WiFi and firewall infrastructure across clinical and non-clinical areas
* Assisting in the design and delivery of resilient, secure network solutions
* Acting as a senior technical point of contact in the absence of the Network Manager
* Supporting continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation

What we’re looking for:

* Solid understanding of networking, VOIP, wireless and cyber security principles
* Experience in enterprise-level LAN/WAN environments (minimum 2 years)
* Ability to use network monitoring and analysis tools
* Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical issues clearly

Person specification

Training and experience

* 2 years experience as a Network Specialist in an enterprise LAN/WAN
* Experience working in converged voice and data infrastructures
* Previous experience of delivering technical programmes of work in a clinical environment
* Experience of managing change through appropriate processes and channels
* Previous experience working in a technical role within an acute NHS trust
* VMWare experience
* Experience of working as part of an oncall rote supporting critical infrastructure on a 24/7/365 basis

Knowledge, Qualifications

* Education to degree level or equivalent
* Competent to level of Cisco Certified Network Associate.
* Understanding of CIPT/VOIP fundamentals
* Understanding of cyber Security principles and perimeter security solutions
* Understanding of Wireless technologies including supporting infrastructure (ISE/DNA)
* Full understanding of networking fundamentals
* Thorough understanding of NHS regulations and compliance policies relating to HSCN and DSPT/CAF
* Working knowledge of C9K-WLC
* Passed Cisco Certified Network Associate examination working towards Cisco Certified Network Professional

Analytical and judgemental skills

* Working knowledge of Network Monitoring tools
* Demonstrable experience of using Network Monitoring tools to analyse network problems/issues and assist in capacity planning.

Planning and organisational skills

* 2 years’ experience of managing own priorities
* Effectively manage given projects using PRINCE II methodology
