An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and engaging HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to lead our Specimen Reception section.
The successful candidate will oversee the Specimen Reception section of Pathology, providing technical support and oversight for C. difficile, norovirus, blood culture, and respiratory virus testing in the laboratory.
The role involves maintaining an effective pre-analytical and support service within Blood Sciences and establishing a strong interface between service users and the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide line management support to all staff within the Specimen Reception section.
2. Organise and participate in training and development of new staff.
3. Create and maintain policies and SOPs to ensure efficient task execution.
4. Supervise MLAs and ABPs daily for smooth operational management, adjusting staffing as needed.
5. Manage an effective MLA shift rota, covering weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays.
6. Develop and oversee an inventory management system for the Pathology stores area, engaging with end users for supply management.
7. Act as the main contact for inquiries from primary care and external healthcare providers, ensuring timely resolution of issues related to consumables, specimen handling, and transport.
