Aircraft Engineer – Chichester
Salary: £30,500 per annum
Are you a skilled Aircraft Engineer with a passion for precision, safety, and teamwork? We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Engineer to join our dynamic Aircraft Engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will maintain and repair aircraft to the highest standards, ensuring they are airworthy and ready for operation.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs on aircraft structures, engines, and systems.
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment safely and effectively.
Interpret and apply maintenance data (AMM, IPC) accurately.
Provide your own basic toolbox suitable for the role.
Inspections & Compliance
Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and routine inspections under supervision.
Ensure all work complies with aviation regulations (CAA/FAA), manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.
Assist in maintaining accurate technical records and documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with engineers, technicians, and crew chiefs to complete tasks efficiently.
Communicate technical issues and progress clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Safety & Quality
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Maintain high-quality standards in all maintenance activities.
Participate in safety briefings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Continuous Development
Stay up to date with technical knowledge through training and mentoring.
Support the development of junior fitters and apprentices.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Aircraft Maintenance Qualification (e.g., BTEC or equivalent), or a comprehensive OJT record.
Previous experience in aircraft maintenance, ideally within line or base maintenance on GA piston-engine types.
Solid understanding of aircraft structures, powerplants, mechanical systems, and basic avionics.
Familiarity with aviation safety regulations and quality standards.
Skills & Competencies
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Able to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Effective communicator and team player.
UK CAA Part 66 Licence or progress toward Part 66 modules is desirable.
