Working under the direction of the Lodge Manager, the post holder will assist with daily operations of the College Lodge and associated services, including provision of a professional front-of-house service, fault and incident reporting, site security, including CCTV, and control of site access and a wide range of other tasks.
The post holder will be confident and well presented, with very good customer service, communications, and interpersonal skills. They will be required to assist the Lodge Manager with a quick and appropriate response to emergency situations, such as personal injury, fire and security incidents. As many of the systems used by the Lodge are computer based, the post holder will be a competent user of IT systems and applications, in particular Microsoft Office applications.
The shifts commence at 06.00 and at 18.00; working at night, weekends & bank holidays are a requirement. The variable porter role is to cover holidays, sickness, events and training and there is no fixed shift pattern. The hours are based on a 12 week pattern, 48 shifts over the 12 weeks. The lodge is staffed 365 days per year. A flexible attitude towards working hours and the ability to attend College at short notice at any time are essential. Possession of a first aid certificate, and SIA-approved door supervision and manned guarding certificates would be an advantage.
