Quarry Bank Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Paramedic Practitioner to join our growing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, patient-centred GP practice serving approximately 4,500 patients in the West Midlands. Working 32 hours per week, the post holder will provide high-quality clinical care to a wide range of patients, demonstrating advanced levels of clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and autonomous decision-making across acute, urgent, and chronic presentations. The Advanced Paramedic Practitioner will act as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patients, with appropriate escalation and referral where necessary. The role will focus on delivering same-day urgent care clinics, supporting telephone triage and remote consultations, and contributing to the safe management of long-term conditions. The successful candidate will use their V300 Independent Prescribing qualification to prescribe medications safely and effectively, aligned to local and national clinical guidelines. The role will involve seeing and treating patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and elderly patients, ensuring a holistic, patient-centred approach. The Advanced Paramedic Practitioner will be responsible for assessing patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, providing care for minor injuries and illnesses, and undertaking health promotion and disease prevention interventions. Clinical duties will include conducting face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations, ordering and interpreting investigations such as blood tests, ECGs, and imaging reports, and making appropriate use of clinical templates and coding systems to maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, and wider Primary Care Network (PCN) staff to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care. They will participate actively in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and service development projects, helping to shape the future of primary care services within the practice. The Advanced Paramedic Practitioner will also support the practice in achieving key performance indicators such as the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and enhanced services targets. Applicants must hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a paramedic, alongside completion of a Masters degree or equivalent training in Advanced Clinical Practice. A V300 Independent Prescribing qualification is essential. Significant experience of working autonomously in a primary care, urgent care, or community healthcare setting is required, along with demonstrable experience of managing a broad range of acute and chronic presentations. Strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to prioritise and manage risk independently, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential attributes. Desirable experience includes working within a Primary Care Network (PCN) or multidisciplinary team setting, experience of delivering chronic disease management clinics (such as asthma, COPD, diabetes), and previous involvement in quality improvement, service development, or audit projects. Skills in cervical cytology, minor injury management, advanced care planning, and frailty assessment would also be advantageous but are not essential. At Quarry Bank Medical Centre, we are proud to foster a positive and inclusive working environment where every member of the team is valued. We are committed to supporting professional development and will offer regular clinical supervision, funded CPD opportunities, and protected learning time. Staff wellbeing is a genuine priority within the practice, and we actively promote a culture of support, flexibility, and teamwork. Benefits include access to the NHS Pension Scheme, paid indemnity cover, free on-site parking, and strong links with our wider PCN colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner to join a forward-thinking practice where your expertise, ideas, and contribution will truly be recognised and valued. If you are passionate about patient-centred care, committed to continuous improvement, and looking to work within a friendly and professional team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
