Job Title: HLTA – Specialist SEND Setting
Location: Newcastle
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £90–£110 per day (PAYE)

You’re the calm in the storm. Let’s put your skills where they’ll be seen and supported.
We’re working with a brilliant SEND school in Newcastle that’s all about care, respect, and achievement. Their pupils have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex needs, and sensory challenges—and the team here makes sure every child has the support to shine.
They’re now on the lookout for an HLTA who knows how to lead from the front (and behind the scenes). Someone who can roll with the unexpected, bring calm energy into the classroom, and help every pupil move forward—no matter their starting point.
-----------------------------------
What you’ll be doing
* Leading group activities across key stages (with ready-made plans and support)
* Supporting sensory learning and using communication tools like PECS, Makaton, or AAC
* Helping pupils meet EHCP targets and contributing to planning and reviews
* Creating a space where every child feels included, respected, and safe to learn
-----------------------------------
What we’re looking for
* HLTA status or equivalent qualification
* Experience in specialist settings (PMLD, SLD, complex needs)
* Confidence with personal care, hoisting, and mobility support
* A calm, kind approach and a team mindset that lifts others up
-----------------------------------
Perks of working with Protocol Education
* Weekly PAYE pay—no umbrella faff
* Free CPD, including Thrive and Makaton training
* A local consultant who understands SEND (and answers their phone)
* Long-term roles in schools that match your values
