Masstemps are curently recruiting for a full time, permanent machine shop supervisor to join our busy and well established engineering client based in Kidderminster.
Job Purpose:
To supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Punch, Laser and Guillotine department, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. The role is responsible for leading operators, maintaining workflow, and driving continuous improvement within the department.
Job Duties:
1. Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day running of punch, laser and guillotine machines.
Ensure production schedules are achieved in line with deadlines and priorities.
Allocate work effectively across the team and machines.
Monitor output, efficiency, scrap levels and downtime.
Ensure correct materials and tooling are available for scheduled jobs.
2. Team Leadership
Supervise, support and motivate machine operators.
Conduct daily briefings and communicate production targets.
Provide training, guidance and performance feedback.
Manage attendance, timekeeping and disciplinary matters in line with company policy.
Support skills development and cross-training within the team.
3. Health & Safety
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
Conduct regular safety checks and enforce correct PPE usage.
Report and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
Promote a strong safety culture within the department.
4. Quality Control
Ensure all work meets required quality standards and specifications.
Work closely with Quality Control to resolve non-conformances.
Reduce rework and material waste.
Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
5. Maintenance & Equipment
Ensure machines are operated correctly and maintained to a high standard.
Report breakdowns promptly and liaise with maintenance teams.
Support preventative maintenance schedules.
6. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity and efficiency.
Support production restructuring or process improvements where required.
Contribute to cost reduction initiatives.
Hours of work:
Monday - Friay 7am-4pm
Rate of pay:
£16-£16.50 per hour
