The role
Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as the Requirements and Project Manager at Defence Modelling and Simulation Centre (DMSC) on ADC/PTVR/VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date from 1 Aug 26 (or earlier/later, subject to formal establishment and candidate status). Up to 180 RSDs per year are available for the right candidate to conduct the role. The role has scope to extend past 31 Jul 27. Unit Function: The role of the Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC) is to optimise and adapt the current integrated force, through concepts and warfare development, to support UK and NATO joint commanders to achieve operational advantage over adversaries, across the continuum of competition. The Defence Modelling and Simulation Centre (DMSC) operates as a cohering force for Modelling & Simulation (M&S) across Defence. Its mission is to enable Defence to operate, integrate, innovate, develop and adapt through the exploitation of M&S by promoting coherence and interoperability of MOD M&S activity across Defence and with Allies. Position Role: The Defence Modelling and Simulation Centre (DMSC) plays a central role in enabling coherent, effective and efficient exploitation of Modelling and Simulation (M&S) across Defence. To reinforce this mission, we are seeking an experienced and motivated OF3–OF4 military reservist to support the structured delivery of M&S projects and programmes, from initial requirement identification through to successful delivery. This position sits within the Programmes element of DMSO headed by a G7 CS. A core part of this role is the gathering, interpretation and refinement of user and stakeholder requirements for M&S activities. The postholder will work across Defence organisations to understand operational needs, challenges and constraints, translating these into clear, actionable requirements that can be adopted within DMSO programmes. They will ensure that user intent is understood, scoped and articulated in a way that enables coherent planning and programme alignment. In parallel, this is a delivery‑focused role that supports projects through their full lifecycle. The successful candidate will assist in defining project parameters, shaping delivery approaches and supporting progress through initiation, planning, execution and delivery. They will contribute to developing delivery documentation, tracking progress, supporting risk management, writing and progressing business cases to gain funding and ensuring that requirements are met in a controlled, transparent and auditable way. This is a hands‑on role that sits alongside other delivery agents and delivery leads to ensure Defence receives the M&S capabilities it genuinely needs. The postholder will bring drive, initiative and the ability to work independently within a structured delivery environment. They must be capable of forming productive relationships with stakeholders, understanding the detail of their requirements and working collaboratively to deliver outcomes. This position directly supports Defence by ensuring that M&S projects are properly defined, well‑managed and delivered effectively, turning user need into tangible capability in a controlled and disciplined manner. Responsibilities: Engage with Defence stakeholders to gather, analyse and refine user requirements for M&S projects - ensuring maintenance of the ‘golden thread’. Translate user needs into clear, prioritised and actionable requirement sets that can be adopted within programme and project planning. Ensure requirements remain coherent, traceable and aligned with Defence objectives throughout the lifecycle of each M&S activity. Support the initiation of projects by helping to define scope, objectives, constraints and key delivery parameters based on validated requirements. Assist programme and project teams in planning, coordinating and monitoring delivery to ensure progress remains controlled and transparent. Contribute to risk, issue, dependency and change management processes to maintain delivery discipline and safeguard project outcomes. Support project closure by capturing outcomes, validating requirement fulfilment and contributing to lessons‑learned processes. Maintain all project documentation in accordance with MOD standards, ensuring completeness, accuracy and auditability across the project lifecycle.
