Overview
An exciting opportunity to join Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust as the Acute Occupational Therapy Lead. Occupational Therapy plays a vital role in the acute care setting, ensuring patients have a seamless and positive journey during their inpatient stay and beyond. The service operates across two hospital sites in a diverse range of clinical areas (respiratory, cardiac, elderly care, general medicine, renal and surgery) and aims to provide high quality, evidence-based outcomes.
The acute therapy service delivers assessment, diagnosis and effective treatment and management of patients accessing Occupational Therapy services at Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, enabling access to community and other services for patients with Physiotherapy requirements. The overarching goal is to reduce length of stay, reduce duplication, increase response rates and implement single assessment processes across the patient pathway.
Responsibilities
* Professional Lead for acute Occupational Therapy
* Operationally lead and develop Acute Occupational Therapy services on the acute sites for both adults and paediatrics
* Hold primary operational responsibility for Occupational Therapy while working closely with other Acute Therapy Managers and professional leads to provide cross-cover as required
* Provide leadership to the Occupational Therapy team and contribute to service development in partnership with a supportive therapies management team
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues (e.g., Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Admin) to deliver a coordinated acute therapy service
* Support efforts to reduce length of stay, duplication and improve patient pathways

Requirements
* Clinical and managerial experience; keen to further develop the service in the capacity of professional lead
* Ability to work in partnership with the therapies management team and support cross cover for other Acute Therapy Managers
* Role may be undertaken as a first management position or by those with prior experience at this level
