We are looking to recruit a passionate Support Worker to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in the Chesterfield Area.
As a Mencap Support Worker, flexibility is key as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts. You should have the ability to work flexibly across weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays, with shifts spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, and sleep-ins. Your flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the people we support.
Please note that we are currently not in a position to offer flexi-working or sponsorship.
You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70 for any sleep-in shifts. The payment for sleep-ins is non-contractual.
The role of a Support Worker can be challenging at times, so it is essential to have a positive mindset with a desire to improve the lives of those with learning disabilities. You will need to be quick-thinking and have a positive, can-do attitude.
What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker, you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support, contributing significantly to enabling the people we support to live more comfortable, dignified, liberated, and happy lives.
* Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments, and cooking healthy meals.
* Relationship building – supporting individuals to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
* Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
* Personal care – assisting with daily routines, medication, bathing, showering, and bathroom use. Note that not all roles include high levels of personal care.
