Project Health & Safety Manager
North East England
£65,000 to £75,000 + Benefits
A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Health & Safety Manager to support the delivery of a major, technically complex construction programme in the North East.
This is an opportunity to join a high profile project with significant value, long term security and a strong focus on safety leadership, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the project leadership team, you will provide visible safety leadership across all construction activities, helping to drive a positive culture whilst ensuring compliance with company standards and statutory requirements.
The Role
Reporting into the Regional Health & Safety Lead, responsibilities will include:
• Leading all project based health and safety activities from mobilisation through to completion
• Providing practical advice and support to project management, site teams and subcontractors
• Driving proactive safety initiatives and behavioural safety programmes
• Undertaking site inspections, audits and assurance activities
• Supporting incident investigations and ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented
• Monitoring performance trends and producing reports for senior management
• Reviewing construction methodologies, risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Facilitating toolbox talks, briefings and workforce engagement activities
• Supporting client and stakeholder safety requirements throughout the project lifecycle
• Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
About You
To be considered, you should possess:
• Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager position within major construction projects
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
• Experience working for a principal contractor or large construction organisation
• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent qualification
• Membership of IOSH and working towards or holding CMIOSH status would be advantageous
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels of a project environment
• Strong auditing, investigation and reporting capability
