We are now looking for an experienced Engineering Team Leader who will be managing the day‑to‑day operations within the engineering team, taking responsibility for assigning tasks and prioritising breakdowns. In this role you will provide safe and efficient engineering service to support production and hygiene, adopt a proactive approach to maintaining good machinery and operating efficiencies, and work collaboratively with other functions, taking a hands‑on approach and providing support where required outside core functional responsibilities.
Responsibilities
* Act as the point of contact for the engineering team throughout the night, escalating issues when needed.
* Manage contractors on site, ensuring they work safely.
* Take ownership of small projects, drive PPM objectives and meet KPIs set by the department team managers.
* Ensure health and safety of yourself and others remains a first priority during all activities.
* Identify and report hazards that could lead to injury or food safety implications.
* Confirm all activities comply with food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
* Respond quickly to breakdowns and ensure handovers to Production are communicated appropriately.
* Diagnose faults, take corrective action, and identify improvements to increase equipment availability.
* Participate as a multi‑skilled team member, undertake training and development exercises to progress.
* Share continuous improvement ideas that contribute to health & safety, equipment uptime or maintenance cost reductions.
* Ensure planned maintenance work is completed on time and communicate further work required to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
* Maintain a flexible approach to working hours and provide engineering cover as the business needs.
* Issue permits to work and monitor contractor permits.
* Uphold good food manufacturing practices at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience in a similar FMCG environment.
* Specific equipment knowledge and experience preferred.
* IOSH training preferred.
* Time Served recognised apprenticeship.
* At least 5 years of experience beyond the apprenticeship.
* BTEC Level 3 or above in an Engineering discipline.
