Job Summary
We\'re looking for a GP to join our forward-looking and dynamic practice team. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care to one of the most socioeconomically deprived communities in the North East, and are committed to making general practice not only sustainable but rewarding and enjoyable for clinicians. We achieve this thanks to practice systems which enable the space and time to care for patients properly, and through a warm and supportive team ethos where discussion and collaboration is the norm.
Main duties
We have worked to create an access system that is designed to maximise continuity and give GPs time with the patients who need us most. We prioritise relationship-based care and continuity in all our practice systems, recognising that it is more efficient, more popular with patients, and more rewarding for clinicians.
This post is to work Thursday and Friday, providing morning and afternoon sessions, a share of home visits, and an equal allocation of admin relating to a share of the patient list. You will also be required to take a share of late call duty.
We have lunch together and have daily clinical meetings when we discuss cases. We use SystmOne clinical system. Our list size is 6700, and our CQC rating is Good, last inspection February 2024.
About Us
We are active members of the Deep End NENC GP network (https://deependnenc.org), and are a key research site for Durham University\'s Platform for the Medical Humanities (https://medhumsplatform.org/sites/the-practice), which aims to achieve a deeper understanding of health inequalities through embedded researchers from sociology and other disciplines. Our pilot of directly employing a clinical psychologist to work essentially as a GP has been adopted by the wider Deep End network, and rolled out to other practices as part of the MINDeD project (https://arc-nenc.nihr.ac.uk/projects/mental-health-in-the-deep-end-minded-pilot-evaluation).
As a training practice we are well equipped to support newly-qualified GPs with individual weekly supervision if required, and Partners are always on hand to discuss anything you are unsure about. Because we are a Deep End practice there may be access to a Deep End fellowship opportunities in future. We have embraced skill mix over recent years and our team already includes a Nurse Practitioner, a Clinical Psychologist, a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, Pharmacy Team, and Social Prescribing Link Workers. We have an F2 and a GP Registrar with an option for the successful candidate to be involved in teaching/training.
