Role Purpose
We are looking for a Game Data Analyst that is excited about working in an incredible AAA games studio, to improve decision making and change the experience of millions of players around the world.
* The successful candidate will collaborate closely with game designers and producers to understand business challenges, then craft research initiatives and analysing complex datasets aimed at uncovering valuable insights about our player base. Your primary focus will involve leveraging game and platform telemetry to turn data analysis into insights about our games and our players.
* We are in search of an individual who will learn about our game, its vibrant player community, and the diverse business needs of our stakeholders. In this role, you will be an integral part of our cross-disciplinary insights team. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact and collaborate with producers, designers, engineers, and leadership at a leading AAA live service studio.
Key Accountabilities
* Work closely with game designers & producers to understand current and new game features to identify opportunities for research and design. Research will cover game telemetry design, analytics and presenting findings back to the business.
* Write complex set of SQL/Python to extract and analyse big, complex, multi-dimensional datasets within Databricks.
* Own instrumentation of game telemetry during development phase; work closely with Engineering and QA teams to assure timely implementation and quality of the identified BI hooks,
* Generate actionable reports and recommendations on features that will improve retention, monetisation and acquisition. Identify pain points for players and work with management, design, and producers to develop strategies to address key problem areas.
* Share both game feature specific and general player insights with executive leadership and game teams regularly. Create cogent reports that are simultaneously data-rich and easily digested.
* Look for opportunities to deploy more experiments within the game, like designing A/B tests that assess the impact and implementing content recommenders.
Required Skills and Experience
* Strong experience in data analytics with a focus on interpreting product performance through audience behaviors and engagement dynamics.
* Gaming industry experience and understanding of player lifecycle and motivations.
* Experience planning and instrumenting game/platform telemetry to capture meaningful behavioral signals.
* Proven ability to collaborate with data engineers to design datasets that enable audience segmentation and performance modeling.
* Strong working knowledge of SQL and/or Python for building insights frameworks and exploratory analysis.
* Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with Excel for KPI modeling and trend analysis.
* Experience presenting insights and building decision-support dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for stakeholders and strategists.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills to translate data into actionable narratives.
* Experience answering research questions around customer engagement and retention drivers.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of digital product analytics frameworks, including telemetry, KPIs, and audience-based performance descriptors.
* Familiarity with game development processes and how design decisions impact engagement.
* Proficiency in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design to validate engagement hypotheses.
* Experience with A/B testing, recommender systems, and audience segmentation for product optimization.
* Experience with User Research, especially Survey data and design
* Ability to design documentation and reporting architectures that support scalable insights delivery.
* Understanding of telemetry hook design for capturing behavioral signals aligned with product goals.
* Experience with Databricks or similar platforms for advanced data modeling.
* Familiarity with GIT, version control, and collaborative code review practices.
