Position: Head Of HR
Location: London – Hybrid 3-4 days/week in the office
Package: £60K/yr – £80K/yr
We’re currently recruiting for a Head of HR with an exciting, high growth food manufacturer. Reporting into the founder this is a stand alone role and will be a key hire to help the business go through a significant period of growth.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Foundations
1. Design and implement the company’s first HR framework, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law
2. Establish core HR processes including onboarding, performance management, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances
3. Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on all people-related matters
Employee Relations & Operations
4. Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees across head office and manufacturing
5. Lead and manage employee relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matters
6. Support managers in building confident, consistent people management capability
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
7. Own end-to-end recruitment for all roles, from factory-floor hires to head office positions
8. Develop structured hiring processes that support business growth and values-based recruitment
9. Support workforce planning for the manufacturing operation, including shift patterns and headcount planning
Learning, Development & Culture
10. Support the development of managers through coaching, training, and practical HR guidance
11. Help shape and embed company culture, values, and ways of working
12. Introduce engagement initiatives and support internal communications
HR Systems & Data
13. Own payroll end-to-end
14. Strong experience with ADP preferred
15. Maintain accurate employee records and HR data
16. Produce people metrics and insights to support business decision-making
Health, Safety & Compliance
17. Work closely with operations to support people-related health and safety compliance
18. Ensure HR practices align with food manufacturing and operational requirements
Person Specification
Experience
19. Proven experience in a standalone or early-stage HR role, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG, or operational environments
20. Strong knowledge of UK employment law and hands-on employee relations experience
21. Experience setting up HR processes, policies, and systems from scratch

22. Practical, hands-on, and comfortable “rolling sleeves up”
23. Confident working across both office and shop-floor environments
24. Commercially minded with the ability to balance people needs and business priorities
