Your Mission:
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Design & Analysis: Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards for complex steel structures, employing FEA and classical calculation analysis.
* Regulatory Expertise: Apply your knowledge of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, Weld Specifications, and Geometric Tolerance.
* Data Interpretation: Use computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Support Manufacturing: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of Submarine Structures.
* Technical Outputs: Produce concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs that meet contractual requirements, target dates, and budget demands.
* Quality Assurance: Check and approve calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Civil/Manufacturing/Structural Engineering background with Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status nearing CEng.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
* Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Strong knowledge in mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and lifting handling (LOLER).
Desirable:
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Experience in a production or marine production environment.

Working Conditions:
As a Principal Structural Engineer in the Production Engineering Department, you will work closely with a dual-function team, conducting engineering assessments to support the build process. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all Submarine roles.
