We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis based in the Herefordshire area.
This is a day shift role, working Monday to Friday from 09:00 – 17:00. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant, equipment, and site infrastructure through a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and safe, efficient operations.
Maintenance Engineer – Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure a safe working environment at all times, complying fully with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* Carry out routine inspections of plant and equipment to identify potential issues.
* Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with schedules.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
* Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise disruption to production.
* Maintain plant and equipment to a safe and operational standard at all times.
* Support installation of new machinery and equipment, including both mechanical and electrical work.
* Carry out general repairs and maintenance of site facilities and infrastructure.
* Manage and monitor critical spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the maintenance workshop and work areas.
* Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
* Plan and schedule maintenance activities, including PPM and reactive repairs.
* Liaise with and supervise external contractors on site, ensuring compliance with company standards.
* Prepare cost estimates and parts lists for planned maintenance and improvement works.
Maintenance Engineer – Required Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience within a maintenance or engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Good understanding of plant and process equipment.
* Experience working with plastics, polymers, or PVC-based manufacturing processes.
* Previous involvement in contractor management and site projects.
* Formal engineering or maintenance qualification (desirable).
* Electrical qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent (preferred).
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
* Experience maintaining accurate records and working to maintenance schedules.
