TheBristol Dementia Wellbeing Service, a partnership between DevonPartnership NHS Trust and Alzheimers Society, delivers comprehensive support across Bristol for individuals living with dementia and their families. Spanning from diagnosis to end of life, our service aims to help people live their best lives within their community. We also focus on raising dementia awareness and improving accessibility for underrepresented communities.
We seek a skilled Assistant Psychologist for a full-time, twelve-month fixed-term position. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, and dementia navigators. Your duties include conducting neuropsychological assessments, structured observations, semi-structured interviews, gathering self-report data, and report writing. You will also contribute to developing and delivering post-diagnostic well-being interventions.
Main duties
We want someone who can quickly adapt to the clinical role and integrate into the team. You should be kind, highly organized, assertive in emotionally demanding situations, and comfortable working independently. The role requires calmness, confidence, and reassurance when discussing sensitive issues with individuals and families. Strong clinical and professional skills and a commitment to high-quality assessment and support are essential.
You will join a small psychology team of 2 Clinical Psychologists and 2 Assistant Psychologists. Flexibility to work extended hours and travel across Bristol is expected.

Job Purpose
To improve the psychological health and wellbeing of service users by providing assessment, interventions, and consultancy within the Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service, under supervision.
Main duties
* Provide psychological assessments and interventions, supporting clients, families, and carers.
* Contribute to service development and multidisciplinary planning.
* Work independently within professional guidelines and trust protocols.
* Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
Key responsibilities
* Communicate sensitively with clients, families, and staff.
* Plan and organize own workload and contribute to service planning.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure data security.
* Engage in research, audit, and service development activities.
* Supervise less experienced colleagues and trainees.
