Job Description
This Mental Health Support Worker role is in place to support individuals managing and/or recovering from mental health crisis. It is incredibly fast paced, working with individuals for up to 6 weeks, you therefore must be flexible and adaptable, able to think on your feet, react well to change, have existing experience and/or qualifications.

Key Duties
* To facilitate the delivery of a service which follows a person‑centred ethos and promotes independence.
* To complete dynamic risk assessments and support plans.
* Promote wellbeing and appropriately manage risk.
* Ensure adherence to company and national policies and procedures.
* To work flexibly as required by the service; this may require some working outside of your normal hours to provide consistent support.
* You will be supporting people in their homes, facilitating safe discharges and avoiding admissions.
* The role includes commuting across West Sussex; travel will be reimbursed excluding your commute.
* Collaborative working with a team of professionals with a wide range of backgrounds.
* Maintain compliance with mandatory & additional training in place to enhance your professional development.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience, ideally Mental Health/LD/Neurodiverse support.
* Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes.
* Experience of using therapeutic de‑escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques.
* Able to respond to changes in an individual’s needs and meet deadlines.
* To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support.
* Computer literate, with confidence in using all Microsoft office programmes.
Desired Skills
It would be desirable for you to have had experience supporting a person(s) with a mental health condition and within a community‑based service.

Based in our specialist discharge service, you will be working with our multi‑disciplinary team to support individuals in their first six weeks post‑discharge, working alongside vulnerable clients to avoid hospital re‑admission where possible.
