Dispenser / Receptionist
Full time and part time posts considered.
We are looking for someone who will work well underpressure, have excellent communication and IT skills with a good educationalbackground. Relevant dispensing qualification is essential and customer serviceexperience is desirable.
Main dutieswill include dispensing medication to patients, preparing blister packs andworking on reception in our busy Practice using our clinical system. Experienceof working in General Practice would be advantageous but not essential.

Main duties of the job
Dispenser role
To be responsible for the processing of prescriptions inaccordance with practice policy and extant legislation. In addition, the post holderwill be required to support the dispensary manager in ensuring a high-level ofservice is delivered at all times whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary teamin line with the strategic objectives of the practice.
Reception role
Tobe responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and theprovision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greetingand directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, bookingappointments, processing of information and assisting patients asrequired. To act as the central point ofcontact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiriesfor the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members andexternal agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Sleights andSandsend Medical Practice is a General Medical Services Practice, located near in Whitby, North Yorkshire. It has a current list size of 5,200 patients.
The Practiceprovides services to residents of Sleights, Whitby and the surroundingvillages. It has a branch surgery at Sandsend, approximately 5 miles from themain Surgery in Sleights, along the coast. Both surgeries are purpose built,have a dispensary and parking. The Sleights Surgery is owned by the Partnersand the branch surgery has a long term lease. The Practice dispenses to 65% ofpatients.

DispenserThe following are the core responsibilities of the dispenser. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepanciesb.Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accuratelyc.Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocold.Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary manager to facilitate reordering e.Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicablef.Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy disposal of returned and/or out of date medicinesh.Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe, preferably 48-hour timeframe if achievable.i.Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters within remit.j.Process prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and onlinek.Processing Dossett boxes l.Processing delivery servicem.Assisting the dispensary manager in the preparation of monthly returnsn.Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all timeso.Maintain accurate records at all times, read coding entries appropriately ReceptionistThe following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist.
