The Opportunity
Ellwood Atfield is delighted to partner with Green Alliance, the independent think tank and advocate committed to achieving a greener future, to recruit for a Communications Officer on a full-time, permanent basis. This role pays £34,000 to £39,803 and is a fantastic opportunity for a creative individual looking to play a pivotal role in crafting, editing, and producing impactful content able to influence senior decision-makers to raise their environmental ambitions.
Green Alliance plays a central role in shaping the natural environment, energy, and resources agendas in the UK and are known for their cross-party influence and the clarity of their insights. The high quality of their work, experienced team, and collaborative approach have enabled them to develop excellent relationships at the highest level with political parties, businesses, NGOs, and academia.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning, drafting, and overseeing communication with their network of members, partners, cross-sector audiences and funders, including curating and compiling content for a new weekly newsletter
2. Working with colleagues to ensure the CRM system is being maximised to support Green Alliance's communication goals and to grow and build relationships within their network
3. Assisting in editing and producing high-quality reports and other published materials to ensure impact
4. Writing both short and long form content to promote their work
5. Supporting their projects, outputs, and events with promotional strategies that help to achieve policy and political impact
6. Overseeing their social media strategy to promote their outputs and messages, maintaining and raising their profile with target audiences.
7. Managing and promoting Green Alliance's podcast in line with strategic objectives, including reviewing its role in their communications
8. Working with the communications team and senior staff to devise and execute their communications strategy
9. Working with staff to build compelling narratives and devise effective messages that resonate with their audiences
10. Monthly evaluation and reporting of communications activity to staff
11. Compiling the quarterly report and assisting with quarterly reporting to trustees
12. Assisting and deputising as required with Green Alliance's events and press and media work
13. Maintaining an awareness of new communication developments.
Attitudes, Values, and Skills Required
14. Previous experience in a broad communications role, including responsibility for central communications activities including promotional activity and strategy
15. Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofing skills
16. Strong knowledge of digital communications, and an understanding of the principles of good communications
17. A good general knowledge of UK politics
18. Ideally, an understanding of environmental policy and politics issues
19. Ideally, experience of managing online platforms, image, video and audio editing
20. Ideally, previous experience using Google Analytics.
