Associate Director of SY Tobacco Control Alliance
We are embarkingon an exciting journey to build on the excellent regional collaboration ontobacco control, and help create a smokefree South Yorkshire. Backed by strongcommitment from the Integrated Care Board and our local Directors of PublicHealth, the Alliance aims to tackle the single largest preventable cause ofdisease and early death in our population. South Yorkshire has some of thehighest smoking rates in the country, making the opportunities to save livesand reduce inequalities huge.
As the keyleadership role in this programme, the Associate Director of the SouthYorkshire Tobacco Control Alliance will provide strategic oversight forcomprehensive tobacco control across a population of 1.5m people. Working independently,you will lead on development, delivery, and evaluation of the whole programme,while looking to build and managing a small team. You will be the primary pointof contact for decision makers and the media and will act as a strong advocatefor action on tobacco control.
Main duties of the job
Deliver highquality strategic leadership, including programme development, delivery, andevaluation.
Act as a leadspecialist and primary contact for tobacco control in the ICS and for SouthYorkshire partners.
Have excellentcommunication skills, acting as a media spokesperson and a strong advocate fortobacco control.
Lead on policysetting for the programme, building consensus amongst partners.
Haveresponsibility for the programme budget.
Be able to buildand manage a small team should the funds and opportunity arise.
Form andmaintain networks, supporting the local system to share learning and improveservices.
Commission, andprovide specialist input into mass media campaigns aimed at population-levelbehaviour change.
Develop andoversee a programme to tackle illicit tobacco.
Work with academic partners toembed research and evaluation.
