Pay rate: £12.46 – £20.37 per hour (depending on experience)
I am recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded Leeds based university for a Technician to join their team on a full time temporary basis. This role will involve supporting practical teaching and research activities, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain laboratory, workshop, or technical equipment for teaching and research purposes
* Support academic staff and students during practical sessions
* Carry out routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of equipment
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and university procedures
* Assist with inventory management and procurement of technical supplies
* Provide guidance on the safe use of specialist equipment and materials
Requirements
* Previous experience in a technical, laboratory, or practical support role, preferably within higher education or a similar setting
* Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk assessment processes
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
