How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Welding Sales Specialist is a technical sales position responsible for developing Airgas-specific expertise in Welding processes and applications. This role involves working closely with an Advanced Fabrication Welding Sales Specialist and utilizing the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology, including Efficiency Analysis and Engineered Cost Reductions. The specialist interacts with Airgas associates, external vendors, suppliers, and both existing and prospective customers.
1. Responsible for growing profitable sales of Welding Processes and Applications to new and existing small to midsize Airgas customers.
2. Develop in-depth technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products and services, addressing inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
3. Utilize Airgas sales tools (Efficiency Analysis, Welding surveys, Welding 201) to promote sales and margin profitability.
4. Travel with the Advanced Fabrication Welding Process Specialist to customer sites to understand current welding processes and recommend Airgas welding solutions.
5. Provide customers with sales knowledge and marketing literature to promote Airgas Shielding Gases, welding products, and services.
6. Upgrade selling skills and technical knowledge, including automation applications and CNC cutting systems.
7. Operate safely at all times and promote a safety culture among colleagues and customers.
8. Perform special projects and other duties as required.
Are you a MATCH?
* Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) preferred; military welding training, Bachelor's in Engineering, or additional welding experience may substitute.
* Pass the Certified Welding Sales Representative (CWSR) exam sponsored by AWS after hire.
* Membership in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, or SME is highly desirable.
* Prior sales experience required; technical sales experience preferred.
* At least 4 years of welding industry experience.
* Strong interest and basic knowledge of welding processes and applications.
* Relationship management and consultative skills to solve customer problems.
* Ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
* Knowledge of TQM, Lean, and/or Six Sigma principles.
