Job Summary

Following the retirement of one of our long standing GPs, we are seeking a new GP at our innovative GP practice now managed by the GP federation. We champion the doctor patient relationship & continuity of care at practice level, underpinned by the expertise of the federation & at scale services.

The workplan we are seeking to fulfil is for the following 6 sessions: Monday – Duty Day; Tuesday and Wednesday – Routine Days (hours can be flexible to allow for approx. 8 hours per day). There is also some flexibility for an additional 7th routine session. We would consider this being undertaken by 1 or more GPs. If you’re interested in a role that gives you flexibility as your career evolves, the following options are available: you can tailor a salaried role to work hours that suit your lifestyle and clinical interests. We provide a safe and well supported working environment so you can focus on providing great clinical care to patients. We take as much admin burden away from you as possible, support you with other members of the MDT giving you more time with each patient. Leadership development and clinical lead roles at the practice and across the federation. Opportunities to work in out-of-hours and enhanced access services. Develop a clinical interest. 15 min booked F2F appointments. No more than 16 booked patient contacts per session. Reducing clinical admin, referrals, results, letters due to our centralized functions. We will also consider the GP Retainer Scheme.


Main duties of the job

* Provide best in class patient care to our patients

* Supporting trainees and other members of the team


Job Responsibilities

* Clinical Responsibilities: In accordance with the practice timetable, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
* Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
* Providing counselling and health education
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Collecting data for audit purposes
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate
* Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Qualifications

Essential
* Basic medical degree and completion of GP vocational training or equivalent (JCPTGP) certificate
* MRCGP


Skills & Knowledge

Essential
* Excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work well within a team
* IT literate
* Demonstrable evidence of clinical governance activities
* Knowledge of EMIS Web and other IT systems
Desirable
* In-depth knowledge of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)


Personal Qualities & Attributes

* Ability to work under pressure
* Proactive in their approach to work
* Friendly & approachable
* Flexibility
* Able to work within agreed frameworks


Other Requirements

* GMC registration including current re-validation
* Registered on the Medical Performers List
* Enhanced DBS clearance
* Valid driving licence and insurance, including business use
