* Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
* Current MaineHealth employees advancing to an RN position may be eligible for an Up-Skill bonus; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until more than 6 months separation from employment.
All new graduate RNs (less than 1 year RN experience) hired into regular status positions are automatically enrolled in our Residency program in conjunction with their unit-based employment.
Unit Bio
Maine Medical Center's Float Pool offers a unique opportunity for experienced registered nurses to expand their knowledge base and sharpen their skill set. An RN in this position trains across Med Surg floors, Telemetry units, and high-acuity settings within Maine's only Magnet-designated hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. The variety of units may provide opportunities to practice in highly sought-after specialties, including pediatrics and Mother/Baby care, which may not be available at the time of hire. Candidates must possess quick thinking, adaptability, and critical thinking skills. Both full and part-time opportunities are benefit-eligible positions at Maine Medical Center.
Summary
The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by demonstrating excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, beginning from initial contact through continuum of care across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
Minimum Requirements
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
* Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Maine.
* Experience is not required; Med/surg experience preferred.
* Basic knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and theories.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* Analytical skills to identify patient condition changes and initiate appropriate actions.
* Enrollment in the 12-month Nurse Residency Program for RNs with less than 6 months of experience or less than 1 year from another organization, with possible exceptions based on individual circumstances.
Further career progression to Clinical Nurse II is possible upon meeting performance criteria at 12 months.
