Background:
Amna means safe in Arabic — representing the core of our work: supporting communities and frontline workers to provide non-clinical mental health support to those affected by war, conflict, and displacement. At Amna, our core values of respect, understanding, curiosity, and connection guide us. Our mission is to build community capacity for healing, with a vision of a world where refugees can shape their futures free from the impacts of conflict and displacement.
We partner with local organizations and institutions working with displaced communities to establish psychosocial healing services, enabling individuals and groups to discover and connect with practices that promote healing and well-being. We invest in and train local staff to deliver this support and collaborate with refugee communities to develop psychosocial interventions, all grounded in a trauma-sensitive and identity-informed approach.
Our partnerships extend globally through our healing network, facilitating knowledge exchange and enhancing practices to support forcibly displaced communities worldwide.
Safeguarding:
The role-holder must have experience working according to ethical safeguarding principles and will be expected to adhere to Amna's Child and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding Policies, especially as the role involves work with children and vulnerable groups in various settings.
