Managing Quantity Surveyor – Murphy

Main Purpose of Role: Provide commercial services on a newly awarded large‑scale project in Oxford as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor.
Responsibilities
* Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
* Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
* Develop, motivate and manage performance of junior staff.
* Delegate appropriate work to junior staff while maintaining accountability.
* Prepare internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
* Prepare valuations and applications for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
* Prepare cost reports for the client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
* Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
* Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts: prepare detailed requisitions, monitor and authorise payments, and agree final accounts.
* Administer contracts, including change management and maintain associated registers.
* Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
* Ensure correct site records are maintained.
* Implement a WBS structure to satisfy client and contract requirements.
* Assist with preparation of the Cost to Complete and Risk analysis register for the project(s).
* Prepare change events, extension of time claims, final accounts, etc.
* Measure quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement as required.
* Ensure appropriate client management is initiated and maintained.
* Help maximise the cash position, including WIP control, cash‑flow production and improvement plans.
* Maintain or assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
* Undertake any other work as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
* Chartered or on route to achieving chartership.
* Strong communication skills: ability to present, negotiate and lead a team.
* Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
* Full driving licence.
