Our transport planning, water management, and infrastructure design teams work in unison to support the planning, design, and construction process. We offer services ranging from feasibility studies, flood risk and transport assessments, to detailed engineering design and legal agreement preparations, delivering cost-effective practical solutions.
Role Description
We are looking for both a Design Engineer and Senior Engineer for full-time roles within our Water Management team located in Swindon. PFA’s Flood Risk and Water Management team deliver Flood Risk Assessments, drainage schemes, SuDS designs, and flood mitigation schemes from concept to construction. You’ll play a key role in both technical delivery and commercial performance, including involvement in the preparation of fee proposals and project management.
Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (such as Micro Drainage or Causeway Flow) is essential, while experience with QGIS, river modelling software, CAD and Site3D would be a bonus.
The role is hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week from our Swindon office and opportunity to work from home.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience in Flood Risk Assessments and developing Drainage Strategies including appropriate use of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) for a range of development types
* SuDS Retrofit design and assessment
* S23 Land Drainage / Ordinary Watercourse Consents
* Environmental Permits for Flood Risk Activities Applications
* Experience in the use of the latest hydraulic modelling, ground modelling and GIS software and tools (e.g. Causeway Flow, CAD, QGIS)
* Knowledge of water management principles and infrastructure design
* Knowledge of the UK planning system and principles of Environmental Impact Assessment
* Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation
* Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
* A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
* Experience in the consultancy sector is a plus
