Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housekeeper to join our dedicated team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. If you take pride in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, we’d love to hear from you!


Responsibilities

* The housekeeping team at Frimley Park hospital are part of the hotel services department and the Estates and Facilities directorate. The team is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in all hospital areas. Housekeepers are valued support members helping to ensure that wards are pleasant for all patients and staff. Some food service may be required.
* Cover maternity and labour ward based on an 8-week rotational evening rota (primarily 2pm–10pm shifts including weekends).
* Perform cleaning tasks including vacuuming, mopping, damp mopping, spot cleaning, spray buffing of floor surfaces (machinery as required).
* Carry out high and low dusting (including skirting boards, window ledges, curtain rails, notice boards, picture frames, furniture, doors and door frames).
* Vacuum carpeted areas, remove spots or stains, and shampoo carpets using machinery following supervisor instructions.
* Manage waste: collection, tagging, and disposal of rubbish, clinical waste bins, sharps bins, and cardboard containers to designated collection points; ensure correct segregation and use of locked containers as required by Trust policy.
* Replace bags on stands/containers with correct colour codes; ensure containers are clean.
* Damp dust lockers, over-bed tables, chairs, beds, ledges, over-bed lights, pipes, radiators; remove cages as instructed.
* Attend to deep clean requests throughout the hospital and damp dust/polish desks, furniture, fittings at nurse stations and offices, day rooms, and other attached areas.
* Clean office equipment (e.g., telephones) and bathrooms, showers, hand basins; polish chromium fittings; clean lavatories inside and outside bowls, seats, handles, cisterns, and surrounding areas including sanitary bins.
* Ensure lavatory brushes and holders are clean after use; replenish paper hand towels, toilet rolls, hand soap/gel, and other consumables; ensure containers are clean inside and out.
* Clean and polish mirrors and glass on doors and partitions; sanitise light switches and electrical sockets; clean paintwork on doors and walls.
* Assist with curtain changes and cleaner protocols in infected rooms as instructed by ward sister or housekeeping supervisor and Infection Control procedures.
* Maintain cleaning equipment in a clean and hygienic condition and store equipment properly; report faulty electrical equipment immediately.
* Monitor stock levels; follow up on surfaces contaminated by body fluid spillage with nursing staff as per Trust policy.
* Assist with catering duties where applicable: prepare and serve continental-style breakfast to patients (if applicable); prepare and serve drinks and manage ward dishwashers when required; assist with patient menus and special diets as needed in the absence of the ward host.
* Respect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times; undertake any reasonable request issued by Supervisor/Manager.
* Food serving on ward level may be required.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Hard-working and motivated team player with a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Knowledge of COSHH, BICs, colour coding and infection control (desirable but not essential – full training provided).
