About the Role
As Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and supportive environment for students, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and personally. You will lead and manage the pastoral team for your designated year group, helping to create a cohesive and inclusive atmosphere, where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and their learning.
This maternity cover role offers the opportunity to step into a leadership position, gaining valuable experience in managing a team while making a real difference in students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral care of a designated year group, providing support and guidance to students, staff, and parents.
- Monitor the academic progress and well-being of students, working closely with teaching staff and senior leadership to ensure interventions are in place for students who require additional support.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring students are motivated and engaged in their education.
- Be the key point of contact for parents and guardians, building strong relationships to support student development.
- Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour and attendance, ensuring students meet the school's expectations.
- Organise and lead year group events, including assemblies, trips, and other extracurricular activities.
- Contribute to the wider school community and work collaboratively with staff across the school to enhance the overall student experience.
About You:
- You will be a qualified teacher with strong experience in a pastoral role, ideally with experience of leading a year group.
- You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A proactive, empathetic, and organised individual with a strong understanding of student welfare and pastoral care.
- Able to inspire, motivate, and support students to reach their full potential.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a team.
