Being part of something big
We look at what is wrong with food to figure out how to make it the best it can be, without being bound by the way it has always been done. This kind of innovative thinking has led Finnebrogue to multiple awards, nationwide acclaim and has established us as a leading food producer. In 2024, we were recognised as the UK's Employer of the Year by Grocer Gold and the Best Place to Work in Northern Ireland by the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards.
Our robust People Strategy offers career pathways and development opportunities for all employees, emphasising talent growth and wellbeing with generous benefits for all. We are proud to be the first food producer in the UK and Ireland to achieve the Diversity Mark accreditation and are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
With four sites in Downpatrick, County Down, our business continues to grow rapidly, with turnover growing from £50M to £200M in the past 6 years. Join us at Finnebrogue, where innovation meets excellence, and every team member is valued and empowered to grow.
The Role
This is a hands-on and varied role, giving you the chance to support both recruitment and employee development across the business. You will play a key part in attracting, selecting and onboarding great people into Finnebrogue, while also supporting the design and delivery of learning and early careers programmes. From coordinating recruitment campaigns to developing relationships with schools and colleges through our "Feed Your Future" initiative, you will help shape the next generation of talent at Finnebrogue. You will also support the delivery of training, employee development reviews and wider people initiatives, ensuring our employees continue to thrive.
What it takes
You will be enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for people and development. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks will be essential, along with excellent communication skills and confidence when engaging with candidates and colleagues. Ideally, you will bring one to two years' experience in HR, recruitment or administration, although what matters most is your drive, energy and willingness to learn. You should be IT confident and able to use systems effectively, with an eye for creating engaging content and supporting learning initiatives.
It would be desirable for you to have experience in recruitment or early careers coordination, or perhaps previous HR or L&D experience within a fast-paced environment. A CIPD Level 3 qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous but not essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will support recruitment campaigns across a range of roles, taking responsibility for advertising, CV screening and coordinating interviews. You will lead on early careers recruitment, including apprenticeships, placements and graduate opportunities, while also building strong relationships with schools, colleges and community partners through our "Feed Your Future" initiative. Your role will extend to supporting employee onboarding and induction, coordinating and scheduling training sessions, and helping to design and upload online training materials to the company LMS.
You will provide support with employee development reviews, assist with succession planning and career pathways, and represent Finnebrogue at careers fairs, community outreach programmes and other external events.
Benefits
Working within one of our state-of-the-art premises you will enjoy a range of benefits including a restaurant-standard subsidised canteen with free breakfast and lunch options, free weekly products through our award-winning Shack Initiative, free onsite car parking and electric charging points, and a packed wellbeing, social and sports events calendar.
After you have settled into the Finnebrogue family your perks will only increase, including access to a healthcare plan, a cycle to work scheme, a new electric car scheme and a holiday on your birthday. You will also benefit from length of service perks and company celebration events. Our list of benefits continues to grow – and we were proudly awarded Irish News and Grocer Gold Employer of the Year as testimony to our exciting culture and employee experience.
