Overview
Veterinary Surgeon - Emergency Out of Hours (9 Month FTC) at Scarsdale Vets Pride Park, Derby. Fixed term contract running December ’25 – September ’26. Role focuses on Emergency Out of Hours (OOH) work, providing care for inpatients and undertaking emergency procedures. The position offers exposure to a diverse and steady ECC caseload with a supportive 7 on, 14 off rota.
Location: Pride Park, Derby. The main hospital includes a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service, with 8 additional practice sites. The team comprises veterinary surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Care Assistants and Client Care Advisors.
Facilities include a CT scanner, MRI, Advanced Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Digital X-ray, Dental radiography, multiple surgical suites, onsite hydrotherapy & rehabilitation, and access to a multidisciplinary referral service.
Responsibilities
* Look after existing inpatients and perform emergency procedures as required.
* Emergency surgery such as foreign body removal, GDV, C‑section and dressing changes.
* Work within the 7 on, 14 off rota to manage an ECC caseload and maintain high standards of patient care.
Applicant Requirements
* Previous experience in OOH or a rotating internship is advantageous.
