Are you an HCPC‑registered Psychologist seeking a meaningful locum role within specialist oncology and palliative care? This is a rare opportunity to join a compassionate, well‑established multidisciplinary service supporting patients and families facing cancer, life‑limiting conditions and end‑of‑life challenges. You’ll work across an integrated palliative and oncology pathway, collaborating closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Cancer Care Navigators, palliative physicians and therapists. This role offers autonomy, clinical depth and the chance to make a profound difference to patient experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Deliver specialist psychological assessments for patients with cancer and other life‑limiting conditions, drawing on a range of validated tools and clinical interviews.
* Provide evidence‑based interventions (e.g., ACT, CFT, CBT) to support patients, carers and families adjusting to diagnosis, treatment and end‑of‑life processes.
* Develop individualised formulations and care plans grounded in psychological theory and best practice.
* Communicate highly emotive and sensitive information with clarity, empathy and professionalism.
* Offer consultation, guidance and reflective support to MDT colleagues managing complex emotional and behavioural presentations.
* Participate in MDT meetings and work collaboratively across acute and community palliative care settings.
* Undertake risk assessment and risk management, providing psychological input to wider team processes.
* Maintain accurate, high‑quality clinical records and contribute to service audits and governance activity.
What We’re Looking For:
* HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
* Experience supporting adults with complex emotional, physical or health‑related needs.
* Confidence working autonomously within a specialist service and collaboratively within MDT structures.
* Ability to manage highly emotive clinical material and support others working in challenging contexts.
* Desirable: Experience in palliative care, oncology, health psychology or adult mental health, though strong transferable skills are welcomed.
