ASSISTANT/TRAINEE GREENKEEPER
Hankley Common Golf Club is regarded as one of Britain's finest inland courses, located just outside of Farnham in Surrey. Set within over 850 acres of SSSI heathland, this prestigious private member's club was established in 1897 and features an 18-hole championship course designed by renowned architects James Braid and Harry Colt. Recently host to the 2023 Women's British Open Final Qualifying, the club is looking forward to hosting the Brabazon Trophy in May this year. In addition, over recent years, the club has been carrying out significant course improvements, working closely with renowned architect Martin Ebert.
The club is seeking to appoint an Assistant/Trainee Greenkeeper who demonstrates a passion and drive to be part of a team whose objective is to further enhance Hankley Common's excellent reputation by providing the highest standards of presentation across all playing surfaces.
Assistant/Trainee Greenkeeper
The successful candidate will be required to:
· Assist in the daily maintenance and preparation of the golf course to an exceptional standard.
· Have experience of or willing to learn how to use, modern greenkeeping equipment safely and reliably.
· Demonstrate extremely high personal standards.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
· Career orientated with a strong work ethic and a passion for turf maintenance.
· NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance or above, PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates are advantageous but not essential.
· The ability to contribute to the continuing success of a highly motivated and dedicated team.
· Trustworthiness to work alone and as part of a team.
· Detailed orientated with an appreciation of the highest standards.
· Receptive to key instructions but also be able to add your own creativity, imagination and intuition.
· Prior experience working or volunteering at high profile events or clubs in the UK or abroad would be advantageous but not essential.
This position and package is based on a 40-hour week, plus limited hours on weekends (1 in 3) and additional pay for any Bank Holidays worked on a rota basis. Flexibility will be essential, particularly over the summer months and leading up and during tournaments and maintenance weeks.
