Business support assistant
€40,000 - €60,000 a year

Offer description

Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. All that work in the background doesn’t just happen, it takes dedicated colleagues, taking pride in their work and seeing a purpose in the work they are doing.

This is a full-time permanent post based at Castle House, Barracks Road, Newcastle. You will be predominantly office-based, although some home working is arranged on a rota basis depending on the demands of the service.

Main Responsibilities

You will provide core business functions in addition to working closely with Practitioner Leads, Team Managers, Family Practitioners, Professionals, and Partners. You will need full knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to utilise the main applications. You’ll also chase workers for paperwork to ensure work is completed to the required deadlines. A part of this role involves inputting data into our database, sharing data, and helping to ensure the database is up to date and accurate through data cleansing as needed. Additionally, there is a requirement to support wider, more generic office functions to support the delivery of all business support services.

The Ideal Candidate

Working in Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills, and a good level of competency using IT systems. You’ll also need:

* Level II in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification
* An IT qualification equivalent to the competency level of ECDL or similar
* Good communication skills for interacting with people across the organisation and externally via phone, in person, and email
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for keeping data updated and working to deadlines
* A flexible approach to work, with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing tasks
* A passion to always give the best service

We’re happy to discuss flexible working options. If you’re unsure whether your experience or skills are suitable, please contact the recruiting manager, Claire Rushton (Business Support Team Leader) at claire.rushton@staffordshire.gov.uk, for more information.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 1st July 2025.
