An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Senior Staff nurse/ Midwife within the award winning team within The Neonatal Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children. The post is a rotational post between ITU/HDU and SC and will incorporate days/nights/weekends/public holidays. The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent.

The Neonatal unit is a busy level 3 50 bedded ITU/HDU/SC. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of care ensuring the delivery of high quality family centred care to Neonates and their families.

Requirements:

* You must demonstrate evidence of ongoing clinical development and awareness of NHGGG policies and strategies.
* The ability to organise and prioritise workload are essential.
* You should demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

There are 3 neonatal units within GGC, two providing Level 3 care, which are located at the Royal Hospital for Children and Princess Royal Maternity. The Neonatal Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley provides Level 2 care.

Care provision should always been in accordance with the philosophies and polices set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and NHSGGC Acute Division.

The post holder is responsible for supporting the baby and family throughout their neonatal journey. The post holder should be actively involved in the assessment of care needs and, working in partnership with the families and MDT, the development of programmes of care. The post holder is also responsible for the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality effective care to the baby and his/ her family.

In the absence of the ward manager/ SCN the post holder will provide cover to ensure the effective operation of the clinical area.
