Research Pharmacy Assistant

We are University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a leading NHS trust delivering high quality patient care, education, and research across several specialties including cancer, neurology, stroke, and rheumatology. As a Research Pharmacy Assistant you will support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Unit in the receipt, storage, and dispensing of licensed and investigational medicines for clinical trials across our five sites.
Main Duties
* Accurate receipt, storage, dispensing and accountability of medicinal products (licensed or investigational) for clinical trials across five active sites within UCLH.
* Assist Pharmacy Clinical Trial Technicians and Pharmacists under supervision, supporting the Principal Pharmacist (R&D) to develop the pharmacy clinical trial service.
* Provide an efficient, high‑quality service to internal and external customers.
* Report day‑to‑day to the Lead Research Technician.

Knowledge and Qualifications
* Working towards or holding an NVQ L2 in pharmacy services, or equivalent.
* GCSE English or Maths, or equivalent.
* Good standard of written and spoken English.
* Previous training on COSSH.
* Previous customer care training.
* Good mental arithmetic.
Experience
* Previous manual handling experience and training.
* Previous experience of working with flammable and cytotoxic substances.
* Previous experience in a pharmacy, distribution, or clinical trials related job for at least one year.
* Previous experience with pharmacy dispensing computer system.

Specific Requirements
* Ability to repeatedly lift heavy boxes (up to 16–25 kg) safely following health and safety guidelines.
* Ability to use MS Office, various IT health programmes, a computer and good keyboard skills.

Salary
£31 554 to £33 270 a year (inclusive of HCAS).
