Overview

Following the retirement of our successful and highly respected Headteacher, the Governors of Exhall Cedars Infant, Nursery and Pre‑School are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, passionate and inspirational Headteacher, with proven leadership skills to lead our school community into its next exciting chapter.

School Strengths

* A highly committed and enthusiastic staff team with low staff absence
* Happy, motivated children who love learning
* A warm, nurturing working environment with extensive and inspiring school grounds
* Low pupil mobility, with most children joining us early and remaining until the end of Year 2
* Strong and supportive relationships with our partner Junior School
* An engaged Governing Body who work collaboratively and supportively with school leadership
* This is a unique opportunity to lead a nurturing, inclusive and forward‑thinking school where every child is valued and every voice matters.

About Exhall Cedars

Exhall Cedars is a culturally diverse school with a heart. We are proud to offer a unique early years setting with a purpose‑built preschool for two‑year‑olds and a separate nursery provision for three‑year‑olds. Resilience, respect, honesty and kindness underpin everything we do, in a nurturing school where every child is valued. Judged Good by OFSTED (April 2024), we have continued to strengthen and refine our practice, always striving to be the very best for our children. Inclusion lies at the core of everything we do. We are deeply committed to an Attachment‑Aware and Trauma‑Informed approach and run a successful school‑based SRP supporting our most vulnerable children with CLL needs. Our environment reflects this commitment, with calm corners in every classroom, as well as a Soft Play Room and Light Sensory Room. We are immensely proud holders of the OPAL Platinum Award, celebrating our exceptional outdoor provision, which includes a woodland area, zip line and jungle gym, performance stage, digging areas and mud kitchen, tyre mountain and beach area. Our children are happy, curious, well‑behaved and eager to learn. Our staff are dedicated, caring and genuinely passionate about making a difference to children and families within our community. We proudly support the financial and social wellbeing of local families by creating a rich cultural environment where children feel valued and inspired. Working alongside parents, we strengthen community ties and give children the experiences they need to grow, learn, and belong. And most importantly: There are ‘NO OUTSIDERS’ here.

Key Responsibilities

* Champion and further develop our strong inclusive ethos, rooted in Attachment‑Aware and Trauma‑Informed practice
* Build on our high standards of teaching, learning and continuous school improvement
* Provide a happy, motivating and nurturing environment where children and staff thrive
* Lead, inspire and develop staff at all levels, promoting high aspirations and professional growth
* Deliver and develop an exciting, high‑quality curriculum from our two‑year‑old Preschool children through to Year 2
* Maintain and further enhance our OPAL Platinum Award and commitment to outstanding play
* Set clear, aspirational goals at individual and whole‑school level
* Unite pupils, staff, governors, parents and the wider community around shared values and vision
* Continue to prioritise and support staff and pupil well‑being
* Demonstrate strong leadership and people‑management skills, developing future leaders
* Show sound knowledge of school policy, curriculum, personnel and finance
* Be a visible, positive role model with creativity, warmth and drive
* Keep learning joyful and ensure every child feels valued and supported to achieve their best
