We have an exciting opportunity for a QC Technician to join our Production Team based in our Factory in South Shields. This role includes carrying out all aspects of Quality Assurance/Quality Control to agreed standards and ensuring the development and sealing processes are followed correctly. You will also support the skills development program, including instructing operators on new jobs, Safety.
Responsibilities
Quality
* Ensure that Health & Safety policies are adhered to.
* Ensure that Safe Working Procedures are implemented as part of any training undertaken.
* Ensure Quality Checks and Inspection Audits are undertaken in line with the Barbour Quality Inspection Plan.
* Collect and maintain quality records, performance data and reports.
* Analyse and identify root causes of quality occasions. Identify and implement corrective actions as per Barbour Quality Inspection Plan and procedure.
* Involve operatives in the continuous improvement of quality.
* Work closely with the Production Team Leaders to improve Quality.
* Drive ‘right first time, right every time’ culture into the production process.
* Classify "B" stock garments and action associated causes.
Cost
* Carry out training of operators to required quality and performance standards.
* Work closely with Production Engineering, Team Leaders and Factory Management on cost reduction, and process improvements, to reduce overall costs and improve operator performance.
Delivery
* Assist in the accurate and detailed manufacture of sample garments, through best practice, to meet Quality Standards and seasonal critical paths.
* Assist and participate with the Production Team Leaders and Operators in the process of new style introduction, to agreed standards.
People
* Develop new skills and techniques and introduce to the production unit.
* Perform duties as acting Team Leader to cover absence and holidays of Team Leaders when required.
* Maintain an accurate skills matrix.
* Work closely with Team Leader to develop and implement a training plan to the level of 3 skills per person and 3 people per skill.
Other
* Undertake any other reasonable activity, as may be required by senior management.
Qualifications
* Proven experience working in a sewing and manufacturing environment.
* Can demonstrated the ability to use a varied range of machinery and equipment in the production of outerwear garments.
* Internal moderation.
* Relevant Manufacturing NVQ Level 3 is desirable.
* Logical, proactive, problem solving approach.
* Advanced in the construction and machining of garments.
* Advanced in Quality Assurance/Quality Control principles and standards.
* Coaching and training ability.Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles and line balancing.
* Basic PC skills (Excel, Outlook, PDM).
* Good people skills.
* Decision maker, team player and self motivated with an eye for detail.
* Ability to work under pressure, within closely managed targets and deadlines.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Competent in handling numerical data and can provide accurate information with attention to detail.
* Adopts a continuous improvement approach in Products and Processes.
