About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Southampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional learning needs.
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families, you will help create a supportive and inclusive educational environment tailored to the individual needs of each student.
About the School
This is a well-established SEN school catering to students aged 11 to 16 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). With around 58 students on roll, the school offers a warm, community-focused atmosphere.
The school is proud of its high teaching standards and collaborative staff culture. Staff are well-supported through ongoing training and development opportunities. On-site parking is available.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in delivering engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
* Support the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Foster a positive learning environment that supports emotional and social development.
* Record and monitor student progress, reporting observations to teaching staff.
* Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver extracurricular and enrichment activities.
Person Specification
* Experience working with children or young people, particularly in an educational or SEN setting, is desirable.
* A caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A commitment to supporting inclusive education.
* Relevant qualifications in education or child development are an advantage but not essential.
